Every journey carries
your five elements

The errand you're running this afternoon, a drive out of town this weekend, next month's flight abroad — only the distance changes. One app follows you with direction and timing, right down to what to eat and what color to wear.

Three Distances

From today's errand to the far side of the world,
only the distance changes

These aren't three separate features. They're one line stretching out from the coffee shop down the street, one step at a time, and your five elements come along for every step of it.

01 Close by

Today's outing

Meetings, dinners, a walk. From the day's own pillar, 5htrip picks the direction to head, the hours that suit you, and even a dish and a color. All you enter is a title and a date.

02 A little further

Around Korea

From a day trip nearby to a few nights away. 159 Korean cities, counties, and districts are tagged by direction and element, so "which way this weekend" has an answer straight away.

03 Further still

Travelling abroad

346 cities across 44 countries. If a country isn't on the list, register it as Other and the direction comes from its coordinates. Change your departure city and every bearing and suggestion is recalculated.

Three Questions

Three questions before you set out,
and your chart has answers

Trip or errand, anything with movement in it asks the same three things. This isn't a hunch — it's arithmetic, weaving the elements of your birth date together with the flow of the year.

01 Where

Direction reading

Line up a few candidates and compare them as scores: how closely each direction sits with you this year. The scale is the same for the next town over and the far side of the planet, and places that top up what your chart is short on get a mark.

02 When

Choosing the day

Give it a window and it picks three good days to set out inside it — days when yeokma lands, days that pair with your own — and shows you why each one made the list.

03 Who with

Companion fit

With your companion's birth date, you get the feel of travelling together and a suggested split of roles. "Mornings apart, evenings together" works just as well for a one-day meetup.

Daily Rx

The shortest journey of all,
read fresh every morning

Meeting a friend down the road is movement too. Today's direction — if you get to pick where you meet, which way sits well with you. Today's rhythm — which of the day's twelve two-hour blocks to lean into, and which to leave open. Plus a dish, a color, a number, and the good days coming this week, for anything with movement in it. It's all almanac math, so it's free every day.

FoodOne meal from the sea — seafood, a clear broth. Kaisendon at Kuromon Market, maybe?
ColorNavy and black — one garment or one small accessory is plenty.
DirectionIf you're setting a meeting today, head northwest — that's the direction that pairs with you.
TimingLean in 19:00–21:00 · leave open 17:00–19:00.
MovementA day that loosens the more you move. Go to the place you've been putting off.
Taste It

Try it — which way your yeokma points

Just enter the year you were born. You'll get the direction your yeokma points and the directions to take gently this year. The full eight-direction scores live in the app.

Year you were born

In saju, yeokma (역마, the "traveling horse") is read as the energy that comes loose when you move. Each zodiac animal has its own direction where that energy sits.

Result
Enter the year you were born

For example 1995 → the Pig's yeokma direction, plus 2026's samsalbang and daejanggunbang.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need to know anything about saju?

Your birth date is all it takes. 5htrip answers in scores and plain sentences, with none of the jargon. If you want to go deeper, the full almanac table is there to open.

How reliable is the calculation?

The almanac math is done by a verified deterministic engine — one that has been cross-checked against Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute data. The reading laid over it is reference content drawn from the classical texts.

If a direction scores low, should I call off the trip?

No. 5htrip never tells you not to go. When a direction reads rough, you plan the days with more slack and bring along the food and colors that balance it out. The point is to travel knowing, not to stay home.

Where is my birth date stored?

On your phone, by default. The calculation happens there too. The only thing that reaches a server is the calculated result, and only when you ask for an in-depth reading.

When does it launch?

We're building the iOS app now. Launch news will land on this page first.
